Rocket Lawyer charges $125 a year at every membership level, and we found no first-year discount, which cuts both ways: no bargain up front, no surprise afterward. The agent service is one drawer in a much larger legal cabinet. If the document templates and attorney consultations would get used, the platform can justify itself; if not, you are paying $125 for the drawer.

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness builds the best software in this category, full stop. Their standalone agent offer runs $99 plus state fees in year one and renews at $199, so the cost roughly doubles at the anniversary. Decide as if you were paying $199 from the start, because from year two onward you are.

Bizee (formerly Incfile)

Bizee attaches free agent service to its formation packages, anywhere from three to twelve months depending on the tier, and those free months are real value if an LLC filing was already on your list. Standalone, the service costs $149 a year. Write the expiration of your bundled months somewhere you will actually look, since the $149 begins without ceremony.

LegalZoom

You knew LegalZoom's name before you opened this page, which is exactly what their $249 a year buys. The rate is flat, auto-renews, and came with no first-year break we could locate. Nothing is wrong with the service itself; it simply costs roughly two and a half times our price for the same statutory function.

Swyft Filings

Swyft quotes $149, and the number is accurate, but the billing unit is a quarter of a year. Annualized, that lands near $596, the highest effective cost in this table by a wide margin, with no distinct first-year discount found. If quarterly billing suits your cash flow, fine; just run the comparison against $596 rather than $149.

Inc Authority

Inc Authority gives the first year away at $0 and declines to say what happens next. We checked the FAQ, the premium package pages, and the homepage, and no renewal price appears in any of them. This page exists because renewal prices matter more than teaser prices, so a vendor that hides the renewal entirely ranks where you would expect: ninth.

Connecticut Charges $50 to Leave an Agent, So Pick Correctly Once

Switching registered agents in Connecticut is not free. The Change of Agent filing for LLCs and corporations, Form BUS-09, carries a $50 fee under C.G.S. § 34-243o, with nonprofits paying $20 instead. It can be filed on paper or through the state's online portal, and the incoming agent must sign to accept the appointment before the Secretary of the State records the change. Note what the annual report cannot do for you here: that form updates members, managers, and addresses, but the state routes agent changes to their own filing precisely because the acceptance signature is required. Who Connecticut Lets You Appoint Under § 34-243n
