Count the Free Months as a Win

If you are forming an LLC anyway, Bizee's bundle is real money saved. The agent appointment rides along at no charge for anywhere from three months to twelve, the length decided by which formation package you buy, and free is not a rounding error on a service that otherwise carries a three-figure annual price. Their formation product is competent, their package pages are legible, and nobody should feel clever for turning down a genuine discount.

What Bizee Charges Once You Are a Customer

Standalone, or once the bundled months run out, the rate is $149 a year.

That number is the whole of the argument here, and it is less a criticism of Bizee than a warning about calendars. The free period ends on a date nobody writes down, because the date is set by which package you bought rather than by anything memorable, and the $149 begins quietly. A registered agent appointment is not a purchase anyone re-evaluates on a schedule; it is a line that renews while you are busy running the company, which is exactly why the price attached to it deserves an hour of attention now instead of a shrug in month thirteen.

So the useful exercise is to price the two things separately. Ask what the formation filing costs on its own, ask what the agent costs on its own after the promotional months, and test each against what else the money could buy. Bundles are efficient at making the second question feel answered when it has not been asked.

Taking Bizee Off Your Connecticut Filing With BUS-09

Connecticut's replacement procedure sits in Conn. Gen. Stat. § 34-243o and runs through one document, the Change of Agent form numbered BUS-09. Fifty dollars is the state's charge. The destination is the Connecticut Secretary of the State, reachable by post with the printed version or through business.ct.gov, whichever suits you.

The address you supply matters more than people expect. Your agent needs a place of business in Connecticut, and what goes on the form has to be a physical location. Post office boxes are refused on that line; a box may appear only on the separate mailing address, never instead of the street. That rule is the main reason a Connecticut LLC with out-of-state owners cannot simply list a mailbox and move on.

Then the sequencing. Whoever takes the role signs the filing to accept it, so the appointment has to be arranged before the form can be completed at all. In practice that hands you a clean order: engage the new agent, have BUS-09 prepared and submitted with the acceptance already on it, check the state's business search for the updated entry, and close the Bizee account after that. Follow it and the agent field is occupied continuously. Reverse it and you create a stretch during which a summons has nowhere reliable to land.

Timing is worth one thought as well. If your bundled months run out in January, February or March, the change lands in the same stretch as Connecticut's annual report season, so settle the agent question first and file the report against a corrected record.
